Psychiatric Aide-Technician

Duties and Responsibilities:

They care for people who have mental illnesses and developmental disabilities. They usually provide therapeutic care. Aides also help patients bathe, dress and eat. They work under the supervision of mental health professionals. Aides aid or restrain patients, observe patients and report their actions to professional, teach daily living skills, interview families and patients, and dispense medications.

Average Salary: $12,000-$24,000

Education:

Aids may not always need a high school diploma or formal training, however many employers prefer that they do. Technicians need a high school diploma and should've taken courses in English and science. A short training course or previous job experience as an aide is also often required.

I don't think I would like to be a psychiatric aide-technician because it really doesn't interest me and I would want a career in which you would need a higher education.
