Duties and
Responsibilities:
Recreation
therapists observe, analyze, and record patients’ participation, reactions, and
progress during treatment sessions and also modify treatment programs as
needed. They develop treatment plans to meet the needs of the patient based on
a needs assessment, patient interests and objective of therapy. They also
encourage clients with special needs and circumstances to get new skills and
get involved in health-promoting leisure activities, like sports, games, art,
crafts, and gardening.
Salary:
$42,280
Education:
Most are
required a bachelor’s degree in recreational therapy or in a related field. Most
employers, especially those in hospitals and other clinical setting prefer to
hire certified recreational therapists. To become certified you must have a
bachelor’s degree, completion of a supervised internship and pass an exam.
I don’t
think I would like to become a recreational therapist because it really doesn't interest me that much.
