Clinical Laboratory Specialist
Duties and
Responsibilities:
These
specialists include Clinical Laboratory Technicians and Clinical Technologists. They both do laboratory work to identify, diagnose,
and treat diseases. They collect blood specimens and prepare culture media.
They conduct tests and prepare reports for physicians and also clinical
technologists. Most work in hospitals,
however many are also hired by private practices, medical groups, research laboratories,
and universities.

$28,000 (Clinical Laboratory Technicians)

(Clinical Technologists)
Education Requirements:
Students who
would like to become a clinical laboratory specialist should take the most challenging
high school courses in science, math, and English. An associate’s degree is required to become a
clinical laboratory technician. A
bachelor’s degree is normally required to become a clinical technologist.
I think I
would like to become a clinical laboratory specialist because I would like to
work in a laboratory.
