Ear, Nose, and Throat (ENT) Surgeon
Duties and
Responsibilities:
They are
responsible for surgical and medical treatment of the ears, nose, and throat as
well as the related head and neck areas. Specialized skills include managing
disorders of the upper pharynx (voice box), ears, nose and nasal passage, and
face and neck. Almost all handle cases like nosebleeds, adenoidectomies,
infected mastoids, tonsillectomies, and sinusitis. Some may specialize in one
particular area of the body, while others work with all three areas.

$205,000
Education:
Those who
would like to become one must complete five years of training in a surgical
residency, one year course in general surgery and a four year course in
otolaryngology. Before you must have a bachelor’s degree in
science, but a Bachelor of Arts degree may also be accepted into some medical
school programs. Medical programs to become an ENT surgeon are four years long.
I’m not sure
if I would like to become an ENT surgeon, it seems interesting, but I'm not
sure if I really want to do that for the rest of my life.
