Ear, Nose, and Throat (ENT) Surgeon

Duties and Responsibilities:

They are responsible for surgical and medical treatment of the ears, nose, and throat as well as the related head and neck areas. Specialized skills include managing disorders of the upper pharynx (voice box), ears, nose and nasal passage, and face and neck. Almost all handle cases like nosebleeds, adenoidectomies, infected mastoids, tonsillectomies, and sinusitis. Some may specialize in one particular area of the body, while others work with all three areas.

Average Salary: $205,000

Education:
Those who would like to become one must complete five years of training in a surgical residency, one year course in general surgery and a four year course in otolaryngology.   Before you must have a bachelor’s degree in science, but a Bachelor of Arts degree may also be accepted into some medical school programs. Medical programs to become an ENT surgeon are four years long.

I’m not sure if I would like to become an ENT surgeon, it seems interesting, but I'm not sure if I really want to do that for the rest of my life.
