Social Worker

Duties and Responsibilities:

They help people and their families to get used to problems in their
lives such as serious illness, child abuse, substance abuse, mental illness, handicaps, juvenile delinquency, and antisocial behavior. They usually must help people accept situations that cannot be changed. They work all the time with the underclass, including the homeless, chronically unemployed, and mentally ill. Most work for the government in offices, hospitals, clinics, prisons, or the court. Others may also work in nursing homes, group homes, schools, or businesses. They often have to interview and counsel individuals, families, and groups, assess needs and develop response plans, refer to clients to professionals or community services, coordinate responses between civic, religious, governmental, and other organizations.

Average Salary:              $20,000-$42,000

Education:

Students who would like to become a social worker should prepare for a career in social work by taking challenging high school courses, especially in English, science, and math. Some organizations might allow a social worker to practice with a bachelor’s degree in social work, but most positions require a graduate degree. Clinical Positions need additional licensing after the completion of one or two year supervised internships.

I don’t think I would like to become a social worker because it seems a bit boring to me and it really doesn't interest me at all.
