Ophthalmologist
Duties and
Responsibilities:
They are
physicians who specialize in the treatment of eye disorders and diseases. These
physicians treat vision problems and write prescriptions for eyeglass lenses.
When it’s necessary, they perform eye surgery. Many ophthalmologists work in
private practice, many however also may be employed by hospitals or clinics,
and others perform research.
Average
Salary: $90,000-$150,000
Education:
Only physicians may study to become an
ophthalmologist. After completing medical school and an internship, an
ophthalmologist must complete afterwards a three to five year an approved
ophthalmology program. Afterwards they
must pass an examination to be certified.
I don’t
think I would like to become an ophthalmologist because I rather work in a
laboratory and don’t find this career very interesting for me.
