"Obedience...is the primary object of all sound education." -Elizabeth Missing Sewell I believe this quote means that for you to be actually educated you have to have obedience. If you aren't obedient then all you cause yourself are negative consequences. You can never learn if you don't have obedience. Its saying the the first and one of the most important principles of actually learning in life is obedience. For example if you are not obedient in school then you will not be learning to your full potential since you aren't paying attention. if you don't do your homework you aren't getting extra practice on the work you're doing in class and then when the test come you won't get some things and your grade can drop.
