It is different from Eastern medicine in the way of how they treat a medical condition; in Eastern Medicine they mainly use herbs and other natural ingredients, while in Western medicine which treats thing with industrially produced medications. Some things that Western medicine doctors use to treat people are chemotherapy, radiation, surgery, and physical therapy.

An occupational physician requires a degree in medicine from an accredited school of medicine and to be licensed to practice medicine.
